Hi all,
Taken a look at some super safe browsing tools recently and wanted to give some quick feedback on methods and the madness.
These days it seems Proxy servers are no longer 'a la mode' with the retraction of Microsofts TMG product and the opening of the market to cloud based proxy solutions. These options are either cloud services or Virtual appliance based services that can be hosted locally or in the cloud. So ultimate flexibility on how you re-purpose proxy services....
Recently I have been looking at two of these and they reflect the approach of Safe Browsing through division of the users endpoint or browser from the actual function of downloading and rendering content. The two technologies i have looked at use the same principle but in very different ways.
The first renders the content remotely executing and script and checking for anything that could be malicious, then returning this content to the users native browser. The remote session needs to copy in information like History/Favourites/Cookies because it's effectively a scalable online remote browser..
The second technology takes things a step further, and instead of rendering any actual content to the end users machine and instead renders a *fully functional image render of the remote site. This then allows for interaction with the remote site via re-rendering of clicks/entries/forms etc.
These are both very interesting any more details come through will let you know and of course more information of questions through my normal contact address....
Cheers NxSec Heads!
